Hello, and welcome to Mary Marvels!
I’m Mary Rose and I’m an bookworm-in-training at Mount Holyoke College.
I was also a curatorial intern at Mount Holyoke College Art Museum, but when taking a break from research you can find me practicing my photography, cursing at a Sudoku puzzle, or listening to old folk music. I call Baltimore home, but Scotland is a pretty close second.
I’ve been traveling for years and have been to some amazing places, but Scotland is my hands-down favorite. There’s something about green grass, crumbling castles, and flocks of wooly sheep that really appeals to me.
Oh, and pleasantly-accented men in kilts.
My first year of college I deferred to spring admission so I could hop on a plane and study abroad at the University of Stirling for a semester. What followed was four months of non-stop excitement that culminated in some great friendships, a taste for good Indian food, and a fun blog to keep the memories by. Ever since I touched down in the U.S. that December I’ve been itching to go back!
Mary Marvels is my chance to document my young adult life, starting with the time I will be spending studying abroad at the University of Glasgow from August 2014 – June 2015. On it you’ll find beautiful photographs, creative swearing, and unbridled enthusiasm. Thank you for visiting!
